Two men have been formally charged with murder in the wake of the death in prison of former Lostprophets singer and convicted child sex offender Ian Watkins.

The two men, Rashid Gedel (25) and Samuel Dodsworth (43) now face murder accusations and are set to face Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Watkins, 48, was in the midst of a 29-year prison term at HMP Wakefield, with a further six years to be served on licence, after confessing to numerous sex crimes which included the effort to sexually assault an infant.

Watkins was taken into custody following a narcotics search warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were taken as evidence.
